Guidelines for Finding the Proper Fit Helmet

Never buy a used helmet or borrow someone’s else’s helmet. Over time the protective foam and removable pads will to the contours of the primary user’s head. A used helmet or borrowed helmet is a safety compromise for you. A new helmet that closely fits you offers much more protection and safety.

Proper Fit & Sizing: Wearing the wrong size helmet can increase your risk of serious injury or death in an accident. To select and purchase the right size helmet, follow these instructions:

Measure your head by wrapping a cloth or paper tape measure around your head about one inch above your eyebrows.

      2X-Small X-Small Small Medium Large X-Large 2X-Large 3X-Large
    Metric 51-52cm 53-54cm 55-56cm 57-58cm 59-60cm 61-62cm 63-64cm 65-66cm
    Inches 21 1/8" 21 1/4" 21 5/8" 22 3/8" 23 1/8" 23 1/2" 24 1/4" 24 5/8"
    size chart
Use the standard sizing chart to select the helmet size that corresponds most closely to your head measurement. If your head size falls between two helmet sizes, try on the larger helmet first and then the smaller size. You can e-mail or call us about your sizing concerns. All helmet products vary somewhat in sizing and shape.

Try on the helmet by grasping both chin straps to pull the helmet completely onto your head, ensuring that the top of you head is in contact with the top of the helmet interior.

    • Check for a Proper Fit by checking that:
    • The helmet inner lining fits snugly around your head
    • The top pad presses firmly on your head
    • The Cheek pads contact your cheeks.
    • There is no space around your brow under the inner lining.
    • Test this proper fit criteria by insert your fingers between your head and the helmet. If the helmet does not fit snugly, try on a smaller size.
    • Check your field of vision when tying on the a helmet. If the helmet obstructs or blocks your vision when looking left, right, up or down, consider another helmet product.
    • Test the helmet fit by placing your hands on each side of the helmet. While holding your head as motionless as possible, try rotating your helmet from left to right then up and down. If you can feel the helmet padding sliding on your head, it is too big. Try a size smaller. You should feel the helmet move the skin on your head and face as you try to move the helmet. All helmets seems uncomfortable tight when new. Over time, however, the padding and lining will contour to your head measurements.

Fasten the retention system (chin strap) as tightly as possible under your jaw without causing pain. There must be no slack in the strap, and the strap must be tight against your jaw. During a accident, the helmet must not slip off!
